TellermanThis is the first song about the Bible I wrote and it is very special to mebecause it was a breakthrough as I thought about how Abraham was commanded to say no to child sacrifice, going against the established religious practice at the time. It was a tremendous leap forward for mankind and Abraham must have had great courage to take a stand. Previously in moments of joy while singing I had to stop because I was overcome with the thoughts about all the children dying in the Holocaust. I realize I wrote this song for children in the hope that people will realize how important the Jewish heritage is in loving and protecting them. A terrible force tried to blot out the goodness of that heritage but humane people overcame that force.
